We live on the same road, about 8 miles a part. I know some of his personal security. He has definitely helped the community a lot in some ways, but it always benefits him too. He throws his money behind his selected local candidates. Roads with his property are paved, while the others are left without maintenance. Tuberville had a lot of money provided for the expansion of the airport down the road . Ranes is the only one that will benefit from this, no one else uses it..
That's our tax dollars at work. He bought Tuberville and now he is paying Ranes back with yours and my money.

Some of that proposed airport area is under a federal conservation management program.

What does that mean? It's basically a crop duster airport only Ranes utilizes and now they are spending millions on it

Believe me we don't need an airport in Abbeville, only the rich will use it. We have the dothan airport down the road

I just know its around the edge of it. Could be anything. Native grasses, soils, animals, wetlands, etc... Those programs can stopped by the landowner, sometimes at a penalty but they can be stopped.

In this situation it sounds like more government programs benefiting the wealthy at out expenses. That's exactly how the climate change, green new deal crap works. There is no need for our tax dollars to be wasted on a rural airport when there are other options.

My Great Grandmother lived in Abbeville on Franklin Street. I have such fond memories of walking "downtown" with my sister and cousins to the dime store in the 70's and early 80's past the
movie theater. My great grandfather was president of a local bank. Never met him though, as he died before I was born. There was a ball bark and a community swimming pool in her back yard.
My mothers cousins also lived there. Her cousin died not long ago, but he also lost his son a few years earlier. Sorry for the long reply...but this just really took me down memory lane! Abbeville was
a big part of my childhood, and the memories continue!

I wasted about 20k on his garbage lumber 12 years ago.Almost every piece in the weather has been replaced already.

There is NO treated pine lumber that will last in a horizontal application unless it is treated with a sealer, stain or paint after giving it about a year to dry out good from the treatment chemical. Vertical applications will last longer without this.....but will last even longer if it is applied. YOUR Federal Gov't has changed the acceptable mix for the treatment potion.....lumber just won't last as long as it did 30,40,50 years ago.

You just have to find someone that sells cca treated lumber. It's still out there.
