Here’s something to ponder over concerning this situation…..Let’s say that we had a 5,000 acre plantation of great habitat and we decided that we were going to implement a feeding program……And let’s say that we decided the easiest and most efficient way for us to implement that program is to just cut out 600 acres in the dead center of our plantation and stock feeders on it at a high density rather than trying to run feeders all over the whole property…….Would you look at that situation differently than the one we have here???.....

My adjoining neighbors are up in the air. Yes I’ve met them, but I don’t believe everything I hear. Supposedly, “no one hunts but if they do they only kill monsters.” Spill is what I’ve gotten. If no one hunts, why is someone killing a “Monster”? You get where I am going with this. So with that being said, I will just have to wait and see what the truth is.
However, I have gotten ROFR on 3 people that adjoin my property and it sounds like 1 maybe is getting very serious. We will see, a lot of IF’s involved to get too excited or deep into.
Hope this helps, I appreciate everyone as always!
Matt

I still wouldn’t worry about neighbors. Just do you’re thing and be happy. 600 acres is a lot of room.

If you'll plant 80 acres of Alfalfa on your property, you'll never need another bag of deer feed and you'll have ALL the deer. Every dang one of them that can walk to your property, will NEVER leave.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

What time of the year did you plan the alfalfa?

Ours is a 2 acre field and we planted it September 22. We have planted the same field for about 10 years. They keep it mowed down.

Was Alfalfa the only seed you planted? Does it still produce results in the spring? Thinking about turkeys.

Sorry thought I would provide a little more information. The field is level and about 50 yards from our equipment shed. We run over it with our seed drill every year to make sure we have the drill set up correctly. We fertilize the field once a year usually a week before or after we plant. Just depends on how well we coordinate our efforts.
We have 6 other fields ranging from 2 to 7 acres that we plant using the drill and we plant a generic feed store plot mix that seems to be heavy on clover and brassicas. All of the fields get a lot of deer and turkey attention. But that alfalfa fiield seems to always have deer. It could be the location, the lack of pressure or maybe just the alfalfa. I can’t remember anyone ever shooting a deer on that field.
I will say the alfalfa field is a beautiful green. We treat all the fields the same with the only difference being what is planted. Sometimes we plant chufa, or whitetail institute, or seed store mix, or tractor supply mix, or a combination. The alfalfa field is our only single variety field.
