Some of the finest. They eat like shicken nuggets. Shame can't get 'em here.....
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

They are seemingly everywhere down here on the Alabama. See them jumping everytime I'm on the water. Have caught a few while catfishing, always about 5-6lbs. Cool fish. Watched a guy on a youtube video in Missouri snagging them, guess they have an open season.

Saw 3 or 4 just cruising along the bank a few years back in one of the local creeks. Good size on them... each was about 4-5 ft long.

We used to snag them occasionally at the Miller’s Ferry lock and dam. Had to let them go.

Yep, been a few years since I've been up and down the Alabama but in the Elm Bluff area we would see them jumping all over the place.

One of my uncles used to set trot lines near the mouth of Cedar Creek and bait it with chunks of Ivory soap. I never ate any of them, but he said they were good. The ones I saw in his cooler were 5 lbs or so.

I have 7 in my pond that range from 25lb to 60lb.
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

I have snagged a couple by accident. One about 30 pounds. We would catch them sometimes on a trot line when they would get snagged. They would always be dead. I think they have to keep moving.

The Warrior River - Holt Reservoir specifically - is full of them. Daltons wife caught one on a worm one night we were down there bass fisihing. She fought that thing on an overgrown crappie rod for about a half hour before getting in the boat for pics and release It was 4-5 ft long Didn't have scales to weigh it with

Swamp Fever posted several nice ones here that he caught a year or two ago. I must admit that I was a little lot envious.

I’ve eaten them. It’s some of the finest smoked fish you’ll ever eat. It’s not fishy. It’s very white and don’t have the fish flakiness.

They used to get the roe out and sell for caviar. Not sure when they became protected in alabama.
