I work for VW, they are pushing EV vehicles. VW is wanting to be all EV by 2030. Never gonna happen in the US. The infrastructure is not here. And they are already cutting production on some models due to lack of interest. They are a electrical nightmare to work on. Already replacing batteries under warranty and they are running 10k plus labor which is 8 hours under warranty time. EV are a hard pass for me.

Think about this.
Women always have a hard time keeping regular gas in their cars. So keeping a charged car may be a bigger commitment to keeping up with mechanical things.
Soccer mom scenario. She has 1 hour left of charge on her EV and is running late as always. She takes little Suzy and picks up her 3 friends to the Saturday Soccer game, 1 hour burned up right there, no charger at the ball field.
You are about 6 beers into a case and the football game you are watching is getting exciting and that is when you get the call.
Or worse, you are in the shooting house about to drop the hammer on the big bruiser you have been trail camera watching for the last two years...then you get the call.

Total scam. I read where to equal the amount of green house gases it takes to manufacture an electric car, you would have to drive a gas engine car at least 400,000 miles so they are NOT better for the environment especially if you consider what to do with the spent batteries.

The numbers for ownership have never added up to me. Let’s say you have a EV with 80,000 miles and you’re looking to trade. How do you sell the car with the battery replacement costs looming at over $12K? The one hour chargers you see at malls and other locations are Tier 3 chargers. Consistently using those chargers will reduce your battery life by 50%. They are designed for Tier 2 chargers like you would have installed at your house. You come home from work, plug in the car, get up the next day and drive the car.

The only way I see that it would work is if you could charge your car at work. Most government offices are installing EV charging stations and to promote EVs they are letting you charge your personal car for free during the day if a charger is available. That would be a game changer for me but you would still have to have a gas burner for traveling or utility use like towing a boat, etc.
