Anyone on here going? I got selected and plan to go, From my understanding it looks like you are not allowed to bring guest on the hunt. I'm thinking of going and either camping on the WMA or camping at Frank Jackson state park in Opp.

Unless it's changed you can have 1 person with you but you may only have 1 gun. Your given a stand location and only allowed to move 25 yards from the stand location

I think one of my friends is going to go with me. If they tell me I can’t have someone with me he’s just gonna go hunt another part of the WMA

I just got upgraded to from alrernate to hunter on this one. My dad was also selected as hunter so It'll be nice to be on the same hunt with him. I'm trying to find more info about the hunt, specifically type of firearm allowed. I've seen where a couple people have said it buckshot only, but I havent been able to find any official statement about it.

For the adult hunt, it says the permit holder can bring a youth (8-15 age).
The youth hunts that I have taken part in has been 1 shotgun per group, and buckshot only. I think it's that way for the adult hunt too, but not 100% certain. Maybe give the Geneva Bio a call for clarification.

You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

Thanks, this is basically the only info I can find on it also. just seems to be lacking a ot of crucial info, like where to meet, what kind of weapons/ shot size is allowed, etc. I'll try sending them an email and see if I can get any additional info.

I believe they will send an email spelling out the essentials well prior to the hunt.

I may do that. I’m going to camp in a cargo trailer. I was gonna go to the state park because a shower would be nice.

That’s kind of a bummer, I guess they’re doing it so folk won’t go spraying bullets everywhere but it sure is hard to get a decent group past 40 yards with buckshot.

What are you shooting? I'm very confident to 60. I have spent a lot of time and $ figuring it out because that's what I hunt with 90% of the time.
