Has anyone ever used this spreader? If so, would it hold up on the back of a disc? I am looking for a way to plant using “1 implement”, and figured this might be useful on the back of a disc.

Spread seed with disc raised, come back and cover with disc blades straight?

I currently have a Buyer’s Products spreader, that looks very similar to the Moultrie. Can I add the electronic gate to my current spreader?

Currently have:

Can I add:

And:

spreading just seed with it, with care will last a while. fertilizer causes them to gum up and u will strip the plastic sprocket or teeth on the gate. i had metal plates made and found the same metal sprocket. works like a charm

I'm in the process of doing the same. I've welded a post on the back of the disk for the spreader, as well as hooks for pulling a drag. I've also cut the pieces to do the same to a 6' tiller. The spreader should hold up fine.

I'm looking at that a little differently. I'm not sure how my tractor would handle a cultipacker that far behind the disc. (Mine is a lift-type cultipacker.) That's a heavy implement with a long moment arm. I've got a dealer getting an adapter for mounting 3-point implements on the FEL. That would give a disc or tiller on the back, with a spreader and a drag, and a cultipacker on the front. If I want to play, this would let me use the cultipacker on the front as a crimper, with a no-till drill on the back.

(Ain't it amazing the trouble and cost we will go to for planting a few acres for pine goats and turkey.) But, if you like to play metal fabricator, this is a fun project.

I currently have a 3ph cultipacker, I thought about welding a quick hitch on the back of disc but no way to get it the right height all the time.

I have a buddy who has one of these and he says he plants all his fields with it. They appear to be built much better than the Moultrie. When I have to replace the Moultrie spreader I am going to try this one I believe.

The guy I know with one didnt say. He just told me they plant all their greenfields with the two they have. I would really like to know myself before I buy one. The pic doesnt show but I believe that it has "blinders" that go on the side which make it a "road feeder" but if you take them off like in the pic I feel like it probably spreads much like any spreader.

Their website shows it slings 1.5lbs of corn every 4 seconds.

Update...used this this weekend. Took me a min to figure it out but it worked fantastic on 900lbs of fert and 250lbs of seed. It threw it out about 5-7ft on each side...no issues with it throwing it and hitting me.

Go to Oreilly Auto Parts, look for Fluid Film. Silver can with a red top. Use it instead of WD40, it doesn't evaporate like WD40. Make sure you spray between moving parts of the gate, etc.

Fluid film is great for battery terminals.
