Lockjaw, we quit trying to disk 3-4 years ago in that Shelby county chert. We’re 90% throw/mow and what is not, we bought a cultivator and rip, and then come back and rake with a rock rake to smooth out. We learned we’re just going to continue to battle broken pans and broken equipment disking over here.
We sprayed all plots today and will look to plant around rain sometime early to mid October. Considered spraying, bush hogging, spreading seed, then lightly discing with disc blades straight to cover seed? That’s what we are going to try this year since it was so dry, and didn’t have enough thatch. I’m nowhere close to planting as dry as we are, but when we do, this is what I’m going to attempt.
