Actually this is about why I grow a garden. There's a certain satisfaction from eating a good meal that is homegrown. Literally homegrown. I just polished off a couple bowls of soup/stew that was 90% home grown. Deer I shot, beans, corn, maters, carrots, and okra are from my little 1/4 acre slice of heaven. The taters are from Foodland I think. I don't usually fool with growing taters. It's like this all summer around here and there's plenty in the big chest freezer for later.

I love growing food. Its just part of me. Im not so worried about eating it. I will but its the growing it that satisfies me. When its time to pick it, i could bushhig it and start over. I just love watching it grow. I give most of it away. I will eat it if my wife cooks it. I just dont get any pleasure out of the picking and putting it up. I sure do like plowing that ground and watching my garden grow.

I only grow a handful of things that I’ll use immediately. Herbs, peppers, tomatoes, okra, radishes. If I had the space again I’d do some bush beans. Okra don’t even come inside. I pick my way across the plants in the morning and eat them as I go.

Wonder how long it’ll be before the government makes it illegal to grow your own and share with others?

Can't say I've ever eaten okra right off the plant. May give it a try
