I don't have a dog in the hunt. But always, always hire a licensed contractor licensed through the Alabama Homebuilders Association if it's concerning residential work. You have recourse if something like this happens.
I'll second Bates recommendation and I'll add my little caveat; If they have a cross or a fish or a bible verse etc. attached to their business I'd move in another direction.
