You cant be chosen if you don’t want anything to do with it. I don’t even like the work chosen in this instance. A vessel is just that…a boat is a vessel that can be used to bring help or sink ships. We have to be willing to let the Lord use us in ANY way He wants. When we try to put Him in a box, we are limiting the ways He can work. My God is bigger than my sandbox lol a lot of people try to keep Him in that sandbox….His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts…

When I was 11 years old, my family, mother and I mainly (Dad worked all the time) attended a Church of God. One Sunday night I felt called to the Alter as the preacher made the Alter call. I got out of the pew and made that walk with pride. He laid hands on me as they do and I felt the spirit of the Lord and I truly believed that I was saved.

Shortly after, as everyone made their way back to their seats, the "Preacher" began calling out those that made the decision to accept Christ. Bertha May, found Jesus. Larry found Jesus, Daniel found the lord, (all of the ones he mentioned, spoke in tongues at the Alter.

Then he said, and little Tommy almost found the Lord tonight. Insinuating that because I didn't speak in tongues that I did not fully receive Christ as my Lord and Savior that night.

Turned me off of organized religion for some time. I never stepped foot in that particular church again.

It's garbage. The "tongues" done today don't match the REAL LANGUAGES that were actually being spoken in Acts 2.

I witnessed the same happening that we read in Acts 2
4 men and one woman was in the house and the preacher was asked to pray for this woman as her husband stood to the side while he prayed in tongues
Her husband was full blooded choctaw indian
When the man praying for the woman left her husband said to his wife that I dont know who that big man was but the whole time he was praying for you he was speaking my peoples language

I would like one person to show me where in the Bible it says you’re not saved unless you speak in tongues. Confess, repent and believers baptism. Nothing about tongues. This is always a trend of man. People always want to make themselves look exclusive by twisting scripture or just flat making stuff up. Instead of spending time talking about tongues or not how about we talk about how many folks pay attention to the splinter in their brothers eye while ignoring the plank in their own.

Freestate, I’m with you. I don’t see that in scripture. If it does say it somewhere, there is gonna be lots of empty mansions in heaven…and I means lots!

It is independent from salvation. For what I know, many a great men have not spoken in tongues (from what I have read). Think Charles spurgeon, John Wesley, Billy graham, etc. They were mighty men of God! No less no more with or without speaking in tongues. They will be in heaven…they lived out the life of Christ in their words, mannerism, actions, etc.

Like someone said earlier, it is a gift, freely given. Not everyone will speak in tongues and that is ok. Some of my best friends are Baptist and we debate this all the time…and if I need prayer, they are the first people I call!

The reason I don’t get on the religious threads much anymore is a man could be wrong and be influencing other people not meaning to. When we get to heaven we will find out the whole story. Don’t mislead other people like you are an authority on scripture when you could be wrong

Dubie, look at Acts 19:2-6. We studied this in Bible study a week or so ago. This is likely the scripture that way of thinking is built around. I am saved, i have never spoke it tongues, i am very farmiliar with the spirit.

I can see why some would believe that, but we are living in a time when anyone can call themselves a Christian, but practically believe in just about anything. Most professing Christians rarely read or study the Bible. FBC Orlando actively ordains homosexuals, Fern Creek Baptist in Louisville, Kentucky has a woman "Pastor" that wears a rainbow-colored stoll. Many churches have members that are couples living together. We are not free just to believe anything we want, while disregarding what the Bible tells us. Most churches rarely study core, biblical doctrine anymore and most of their membership is biblically malnourished. We are instructed to "study to show thyself approved". We actually SHOULD be discussing theology.

I can tell y'all from my mother having me in a Pentecostal church growing up there's no way anyone can fake this .when you go to church with same people for years you know they are legit 80 yr old men Christians that regularly speak in tongues.theres no way this can be faked without someone knowing
I've seen people I knew for fact disabled for years in a wheelchair get up and walk.
I've been healed myself and there's no other way to explain what happened other than when I was prayed over it healed me.
