I’ve noticed a decrease in activity at my mineral sites this year and last. Haven’t changed anything for the minerals, but maybe because the past two summers have been wetter. Anyone else notice this?

Maybe neighbors have put out minerals? Mine seem to be pretty consistent.

Put up cams about 7 days ago over mine - nothing but does and small bucks so far - sucks

I’ve never gotten consistent visitation to any mineral sites, regardless of what mineral was used. Our habitat is also superb, so they’ve got more food than they can possibly consume. I was getting so few pics I pulled cameras off minerals. But that’s the way it is every year for me.

Well most folks habitat is shucks. Mine sure is and not in a fertile area and the deer definitely use the minerals. Where I live is a little better ground and they don’t use the minerals as much here either.

Lol! Wasn’t trying to. A lot of that is just situational at the moment with the stage of timber growth on ours and surrounding properties.

Deer hammer out mineral sites. I am always looking for clay areas on the property. The deer seem to like eating this soil better and the minerals do not leach as much. I have one mineral area that the ground looks like a sunken bathtub! Just amazing how deep they will dig.

I did a lot of tsi this year and all the mineral stumps I have this year is pulling them away from my mineral site I believe.

They hit mine pretty good. I use them mostly to see what kind of bucks I have running around. Trophy Rocks have also been good to me. I don’t feed corn all summer but still get a lot of activity on the rocks. Start putting out corn again in late September.

mine have been doing good, i have 2 about half mile from each other. i use a stump and cut up the top with a saw then use a mix of one part Di calcium, one part rock salt, 2 part trace mineral. i use them basically to supplement does, but I've been seeing some big bucks come through. I'm sure it will change when velvet drops.

I've had more luck with Trophy Rocks.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

They tear into them pretty good where I hunt. It’s the sodium they are after. Mixing in all kinds of good minerals with the salt can’t hurt but I can’t say that it helps.

I use Trophy Rocks, and I’ll mix di cal and red trace if trophy rocks are not available. It’s how I see what bucks I have. I’ve had a few of the same salt lick locations for 10+ years at one piece of land. They don’t hit them as much in starting early October when they shed their velvet. I move the cameras around at that time. Most bucks are not at them consistently, but it lets me know they are “in the area.” I don’t start feeders until September.

This is a stump on the club I am in, we have not been able to put anything out due to CWD for I think 5 or 6 years but they are still hitting this stump, I don't know what was put on it because it was done before I joined.

That's mainly salt. Look at the label.

Yes if you are on a Westervelt lease, you can't use minerals or bait.
