I would like to go back and experience the post WWII era because we were more moral as a society (men were men and women were pretty and cared about it among other things) and get to watch the birth of television and other modern stuff.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I wasn't talking about you.

I was trying to make a positive statement about how great our country is regardless of the petty problems that it has and has had since the beginning, and that there is very little reason for anyone to be thinking of an armed revolt to "Fix" things, because that never turns out well.

I jyst wouldnt want to be seen as "Anti American". I love this place and the people who live here. Never been to another country except canada and that was just across the border. Te country is great. Blount county Alabama is the only place for me, until i reside in heaven.

I am blessed to have been a teenager in the 80s and things were pretty good up in Western NY. As a young Airman and new to Alabama the 90s were pretty good to me as well but I didn’t have the spending ability I have now. But the 2000s where I received my salvation and my girls were born were tops for me.

Thats said, I’m blessed now in these times and try to take stuff in stride as I may not be in control but no man is.

I graduated in 85. I wish it was like it was then. Everyone let you hunt on there land, pay was less but the cost of living was lower, the music was better and the woman were free. Now you pay like hell to hunt. You have to have a really good job to live like you did then, and ancestry DNA has come back to haunt us.

Obviously my childhood of the 80s was the best times. But as an adult, I would say today is my best time. My kids are grown married and I don't have to support them. I have more money in my pocket than I ever have in the previous decades. One reason is because my bills are so low, no more college expenses or high insurance. My weekends are usually filled with grandkids stuff and their activities.

As an adult, now is my best time.

I wouldn't view anyone who wanted to revolt as anti-American.

I don't view the folks that fought the government in the first or second Civil Wars to be anti-American. I think in both cases that they honorably believed in their cause.

Early 70's to late 80's Was the apex of western civilization IMO.

Racism was almost non existent
The music was awesome
The movies then are what everyone is copying now - It was okay to be masculine
TV was epic - Dukes of Hazzard, A team. Magnum PI the list goes on
You could hunt , fish , and mud bog everywhere
No cell phones ( not like now anyhow)
For the most part, we were still a Christian nation
The politicians actually were not completely insane

I could go on for days

The Reagan years. My HS and college era. Music was great. Beer was cheap. Gas was even cheaper. You could live real good on 40K/year. Hunting was awesome. Folmar was mayor.

1980s were the best during my lifetime...it was an awesome time in rural Mississippi at least.

But it had a lot of ugly too:

the horrific economy of the early 80s and pretty much most of Reagan's 2 terms. Family farmers were crushed, Savings and Loan scandals and called loans, home interest rates over 15%, flood of asian cars combined with some crap American made cars started to kill off domestic manufacturing. Crack epidemic and increase in big city violence. Etc.

The roaring twenties were probably very similar to nowadays. Debauchery ruled and cheap money was flowing.
