Does anyone know of any kind of poisons or what I can do to catch snake or keep him out ??Chicken house is sealed up but they run in pen in daytime .

They say sulfur works. I'm not sure one way or the other. Most of the snake repellent is sulfur , garlic and a medium. Its almost impossible to keep a snake out of something if they wanna get in.

put some artificial eggs or golf balls in the laying nests, it will eat them and die.

The big sticky mouse traps several setting close together and nailed to a board will get them. I’ve only heard this from a friend have not seen or tried it. For sure Keep the chicken away from it

Keep a shovel or hoe there if you don't carry every time you go to the coop. I kill several each summer, always fun to open the lid on the nest boxes and have a snake right there when you open it up.

We have a huge Gray Rat snake that visits our coop once a week or so. I used to take it and carry it to the woods, but it comes back. We have such a problem with rattlers that I’ll gladly pay it an egg a week if it keeps the others away. Our chickens aren’t scared of it and I haven’t seen it bother them.

The last time we found it visiting, it sat on one of the roost bars and ate the egg. Yolk was dribbling out both sides of its mouth and the chickens were under him eating the drooled yolk. If posting a video wasn’t such a problem, I’d post it up.

The snakes we’ve got out of the coop usually come in the evening. We make it a point to gather the eggs by mid-afternoon.

This works.

Yes, but I'm not sure why anyone would want to kill a rat snake.

Because it's stealing his eggs lol

I'm not sure how well glue traps and chickens are going to mix. A larger snake can drag a glue trap around and put it where it isn't suppose to be leading to unexpected problems.

Boil some of the eggs and keep them in the laying boxes as bait. I’ve heard the eggs will stay hard and won’t crush as the snake tries to slither out the hole he’s coming in and will become trapped.

I think firing the gun in your chicken house may pose more threat than the snake smile A shovel, rake, big stick would be plenty effective for a chicken or rat snake and you can still keep your man card smile

ok , i dont understand the fake egg thing . chicken snakes i had would throw feathers back up in a ball after eating birds i killed . ive seen them throw up stuff that had been in them awhile . whats keeping them from throwing a fake egg back up ?

they'll kill big chickens , start eating at the head , go as far as they can get and throw it back out . had that happen a few times
