Sears is still selling Craftsman tools online. I needed some big metric wrenches to fill a set and I got them in 3 days.

Most of the brands mentioned here are Chinese now. Icon, craftsman, gear wrench, etc are all straight Chinese. I don’t use any of these mentioned other than some select USA made Craftsman “professional” stuff I bought years ago.

SK was bought out by the Chinese.
Most of MAC’s stuff is made is Taiwan.
Even Proto is having a lot of their stuff made in Taiwan.
Not sure about Matco but I figure their stuff isnt made here.

Snap on still makes their hand tools here. A lot of their stuff isn’t truly made by them other than the hand tools. Taps and dies, drills, impacts, etc. all come from someone else.

Wright tool is still USA made.
Williams is owned by Snap on and is made in Taiwan.

With that being said, the quality is still better buying the tools that are made in Taiwan vs China.

This right here. Been using gear wrench for years. Good stuff

My tool chests all look like there was an explosion at a tool trade show and I went around picking up whatever I could find afterwards.

Worked at an Ace hardware store for a while and haave always been impressed w their warranty.. Lifetime- broken abuseed run over doesnt matter. If you find it in the middle of the street and it has a chip in it it gets replaced for free.

This is where we are at.....

It says made in the USA on the side of it... and it's made with that steel from China which is exactly the same garbage. All those USA stamped tools are mostly complete POS just like their counterparts.

If you want tools they have been making them for hundreds of years.... Find older tools and hoard them if you want good ones. They are everywhere... garage/estate sales, your greasy granny's house is probably full of them, etc.

Pay attention. Find them. Hoard them. They don't go bad.

I notice every cheap socket set has a drawback, look for these things: missing some standard or metric sizes like 15 mm, too many 12pts., crummy case, hard to read the lazer etching.
