What’s your go to for leaders? I struggle mightily to tie one the same everytime, and even then, get it to hold without slipping. And then, when I do, I worry if it will really hold if I happen upon a 4lb spot.
With that said, do you have one that you rely on and have 100% confidence in?
Thanks!

FG knot if I’m tying it at home. Alberto knot if I’m tying it on the water.
Alberto is pretty easy. Have you tried that one?

Thanks CD. I have tried both of those, with the Alberto being the easiest, but I never can get the “rewrap” (or the braid going back opposite) to do right. Richard Gene has a pretty good demonstration of one and that’s what I’ve been using (no idea what the actual name of the knot is) but it’s the easiest I’ve found…but even so, I still need to practice it more to tie it correctly all the time.

FG knot hands down. You may get a little frustrated at first but it will get much easier with practice. I fight tarpon all summer long and my knot never breaks. There is actually a knot stronger than the FG but is way to hard tie. Hey Peach. You spend any time on the piers at PCB chasing tarpon?

Alberto works great for me.

I mostly fish Okaloosa and Navarre.

I have used a double UNI for years - within a day of learning the FG knot - I can tie the FG as fast and the FG goes through the rod eyes a little easier. Both are good knots That’s what I like about the FG knot.

Both are good knots That’s what I like about the FG knot. I use the FG for heavy fluoro leaders (50+) but have a difficult time using it on bass gear. It usually breaks when setting the knot, I cuss it and tie the uni to uni.
