Those of you with a Tundra may have experienced a door lock actuator failure. It seems to be a common issue. There is a tiny electric motor in the actuator that goes bad. You can order a new motor for less than $10 but you’ll have to disassemble the actuator. If you go to the dealer, it’ll cost you almost a grand. After extensive YouTube research, I found Actuators Plus on eBay. They sell refurbished OEM actuators for $70 with a lifetime warranty as long as you send your old actuator to them. I went this route and fixed my passenger door yesterday. There are some good YT videos available for replacing the actuator and pulling the door panel. I was nervous about pulling the door panel so I went super slow and it only took an hour to do the whole job. I would suggest you get an automotive panel removal tools kit. $8 at Harbor Freight.

I wonder if it’s the same actuator in the 4Runners? Wife’s has been out for a while

I think the actuator in the 4runner may be the same, I know the motor inside is the same as a tundra. I've replaced 2 of the little motors in my tundra, and 2 in my wife's 4runner.

One in my Silverado refuses to work when it is above 75°. Now the wiring harness is bad and door handle is loose. I'm going to tear it all apart and fix it before it gets to hot. Pain in my but to not be able to roll windows down.

I think I replaced one on mine, and got the part from Advance auto. It wasn't very expensive.

Way to go!!

*High Five*

I actually ordered the motors and replaced the motors in the actuators on our Lexus, after watching a Youtube video on it.
Definitely wayyyyy cheaper. I think it was $18.00 for 3 motors. I fixed the drivers side front, and a month later the passenger side back went out.
I was glad to have the extra motors.

God Bless,
David B.
