This issue may be more complex than you realize!

This child obviously is struggling with gender identity and is quite possibly going through a gender modification. When he saw a masculine "truck" he was triggered and had a perfectly normal response and struck out at the offending symbol.

By placing this symbol in front of your home where any uninvited child might wander by, you have initiated this triggering and therefore you are responsible for the damage to your truck and quite possibly any future counseling this child may require. Also be aware that when word reaches a certain community, there will most likely be large protests and demonstrations at your home.

Hell it’s just a truck with a little damage from kids outside playing ball. Give them a talking to teach them a lesson then let them go on. Wouldn’t even tell the boy to let his parents know, but when they do find out and come over to pay for the repairs just decline the offer and drop it just like so many people did when we were little boys messing stuff up.

As a father of 3 sports loving kids, it’s all on the parents at which ever house they’re at. If something happens at my house it’s on me, I’m suppose to be supervising them.
If something happens at my kids friends house, it’s on them. I try to see it coming before it happens. Baseballs/bats and trucks should not be in the same facinity at all.
I put some boys out by my storage building pitching years ago, that building still has tons of baseball size dents in it. That’s on me.

Also I’ll add, if my kid comes to your house and something gets broke, then you expect me to pay for it, he’s never coming back. I can’t supervise from my house.

^ this is about how I see it unless there was something intentionally done. If the boy came over without you knowing it, then I would make the other parent aware of the incident hoping he offered to share cost.

Depends on how old the kid is. If the kid is 14, it’s time there’s some personal accountability, regardless of where he was and who was in charge.

I would kindly let them know what happened when the time is appropriate and then let them decide how to handle it. Either way I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. Their Homeowners insurance may cover it. Who knows?

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

The child or parents of the child are responsible for the damage. Conversation over. It’s not difficult. There are no caveats or considerations.

I guess I'm confused as to how the kid hits the truck with the bat when hitting off a tee.

There are a bunch of different reasons "sports incidents" could happen, but if it was because the kid was jake-legging around or being silly then his parents should pay for it. If it's an honest mistake, then I might just let it be.

Now, if my kid is the one who did it, I don't care if it was an honest mistake or not. I'm offering to pay for it. Whether he was Jake legging or not will determine how I handle it with my kid.

Also, hitting off of a tee in very close proximity to a vehicle counts as jake-legging just like shooting a bb gun without knowing what's behind and around your target.

I prob wouldn’t push the issue with them however if they offered to pay for it I’d take them up on it. Main reason being your son had already told him to get away from the truck with the bat and still managed to hit it.

I know I’d be pretty hot about it but would fix it and be done with it. They could’ve been out doing worse things than hitting a baseball.

Just send your son over to their house with a bat and turn him loose
