I’ve killed more accidentally than on purpose. Nails, round up, lock on chain. If you’ve done all that it’s dead, it just don’t know it yet.

I don't get it , how is killing it gonna solve the problem? Killing it will only accelerate the problem. Call the man , in this case, the man is Mr. JWalker.

If a tree is deemed a hazard tree to your neighbors property due to leaning and he has notified you that he is concerned, then if the tree falls on his property and causes damage you will be liable. If you have caused the tree to become a hazard by killing it and then it falls on his property then you would be liable.
Do a search on "hazard trees" on the internet, seems to be a very common issue.

If you kill this tree and it falls from your property onto your neighbor’s home, are you legally liable for repairing the damage? I don’t know the answer to this but I would dang sure find out if I were you. Yes. If you create a hazardous condition like this your homeowners insurance may decline to cover the damage. Call the man and have it removed.

I paid $400 to have a tree similar cut down and hauled off. You’re 25% there just trying to kill it. If you got a 80ft pine 3-4ft in diameter cut and hauled for $400, you better save that guys number and make him your tree guy. Thats a really good price. About 1/2 to 1/3 what is normal.
