Just got my hands on a 11-87 Special Purpose 12 gauge that’s matte receiver and barrel. I haven’t ever had a gun hydro dipped but had a cousin who had a bad experience with it on a Glock, I know little about the process. I’m attempting to make kind of a “tribute user” sorta speak to the older model factory camo turkey guns of the early 90s. Anyone know of a treatment process that’s close to that thick durable finish that came in green leaf, tree bark, and bottomland?

There’s a company that’s online that will spray a cerakote finish that’s pretty much identical to the original bottomland guns of the 90s but it ain’t cheap. I can’t remember the company’s name though

Cerakote is always better option .heck I'd krylon rattle can before dipping I would make my own stencils and spray duracote out of prevail sprayer before I dipped anything. Not to hijack the thread, but Almodux, what color Cerakote is that on your barrel and receiver? I have a gun with camo stock and foregrip that I want to get the barrel and receiver done in that color.

I usually let him do mine, but was in a hurry and needed a quicker turnaround time(my fault for waiting so long) and used Inverness Outdoors. I’ll definitely use Jay’s from here on out. I knew better, but did it anyway. 🤦♂️

Like it MUCH better than burnt bronze. The pattern on the stocks is a free hand mix, by the applicator…,Arsenal Engraving and Coating. I like the midnight bronze, titanium, and various ODs for metal colors.

I've made my own when I didn't have any by mixing 3 parts burnt bronze with 1 part graphite black
