Aww I know a guy that caught one of those on a bream pole. Shhh there’s no way I would have got in the water to revive that thing and I’m sure once they got it in they were tired of fooling with it. There’s big sharks just off the beach all of the time but people don’t think about it.
Great whites are getting to be a more common occurrence off the gulf coast in the last few years. Most are males which are actually smaller in girth than the females. I had a friend catch one off Navarre a pier in the late 60’s that was 247lbs and another friend catch a ten footer around five years ago off Navarre pier. In the early eighties I had a huge female great white come right next to the boat and eat a 40lb bull dolphin I had on. I would have guessed it to be around 1500lbs. My buddy and I hollered great white at the exact same time. That is the only great white I have seen in all the years I’ve fished the gulf coast.
With all the longline restrictions and specific regulations now on sharks, they have literally taking over our waters. Sometimes you can’t even think about pulling a grouper, snapper or amber up without a shark eating it.

They will worry the hell out of you while wading for flounder. They have gotten noticeably bad the last 3 years.
How mad they be if you brained that thang with a 9mm
Considering the great whites are federally protected, the man wouldn’t necessarily be mad, but if caught you’ll face a myriad of steep fines at a minimum.

This right here. It’s gotten real bad between the sharks and the porpoises following you around and eating your fish too..
