I’ve noticed over the past few months that someone is hunting a small tract of land North of 110 or Vaughn Road across from Southern Homes and Gardens where the Montgomery city limits end and the Town of Pike Road begins. The property boarders a gas line to the West, estate homes to the East and neighborhood called Ranchette Estates to the North. I see deer on that gas line all the time plus you have to pay attention when driving by it early morning to keep from running over one. And several have been hit already.

So around 4:30 traveling West Friday afternoon when I passed by there I noticed the same F150 that I’ve seen all hunting season parked there. And I’m thinking good, I hope whoever is hunting there gets them a good one. Not thirty minutes later I’m going East and I see the game wardens truck and I see the warden heading into the woods. I tell my wife, some bleeding heart liberal saw this guy going hunting and called the game warden. Why? I don’t know. He’s hunting in the county and I’m almost positive that he’s using a bow from what I saw earlier in the season.

Does anyone know who’s hunting there and what did the warden tell him. I don’t know the story, but it looked like a hunter hunting a productive piece of property off of the busiest road in Montgomery and somebody didn’t like it. I don’t know any other way to enter the property but parking on 110 and letting people see what you are doing is what probably got the warden called.

My office is just west of that property and I have seen several nice bucks standing in the gas line. My guess would be they are trespassing. I don’t know who owns the property but I would guess it’s the owners of the the big house just east of the gas line.

That’s actually in the city limits of Montgomery and not in the county. There’s a few deer in there, but nothing like other places I know. Couldn’t tell you who’s hunting or what the outcome of that conversation was, but I’m sure you are right as far as who saw and called in. There’s a couple younger guys who have gained permission on quite a few different places throughout that area. One real good spot behind AMC movie theaters on chantilly, where I can vouch there is atleast one stud running around.

If they are trespassing, then that’s just stupid. Y’all both know how busy it is right there.

I don’t think they would be trespassing if that same vehicle has been there more than once much less the number of times that he’s been spotted there. Some dang bunny hugger done called Mr.Greenjeans.

I'm pretty sure he was hunting there last year too. I think that property was for sale last year, right?

I saw 2 younger bow hunters the other day walking down 31 just across the bridge coming out of Prattville. They were parked at the scrap yard and walking down towards the river on that side of the road.

Pretty sure I saw the biggest buck of my life near there one morning on the way to work.

I believe it’s Ryan rd, or atleast we covered that area in patrol. The county is mixed in all over out that way from when pike rd formed their own jurisdiction and folks voted whether or not they wanted to be on city or county.
