Start Relay switch. There are a lot of you tube videos about Kenmore fridges and the start relay switch. You can fix it yourself.

Empty it and unplug for 3 or 4 hours. If it goes back to working it is likely the defrost timer. Easy fix.

Talked to my wifes uncle other day and he had the same problem with his fridge over Christmas, said he unplugged it for a while and plugged it back in and its been working ever since...worth a shot...
