I've always rescued dogs, but not sure if I will again. These places have gotten ridiculous. They are wanting to reach out to my vet, my employer, and they reserve the right for a surprise home inspection. Not to mentioned that there is a lengthy application process. Delaying the process significantly reduces adoption rates, leading to more dogs getting put down. I understand they want the dogs getting a good home, but they have taken that way too far.

They also require you to treat dogs like babies. Better not mention taking them hunting or any activity off leash, you're done after that. My dog is much happier than any of their babies, because he is treated like a dog, and gets to do dog things.

I despise those "rescue organizations" for the very reasons you mentioned. They try their best to make it hard to reaLLY SAVE ANY DOG, delay rescue till they are "euthanized"...killed by autocratic lazy assholes who run the shelters. They need to have the term "rescue" legally removed from their name.

Try rescuing any high energy dog like a Malinois and see the hoops you have to jump thru.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Those places should be shunned. To develop a breed you have to cull many, many times to get to where you don't have to much. If you care about dogs, you hate to see them culled. Careless breeding and supporting careless breeding with rescues ultimately harms dogs overall.

Promotion of rescues promotes irresponsible crossing of purebreds, which makes all that culling as for nothing. Careless breeding of any sort undoes all that work. And in addition to destroying the breeding work, many many more times dogs end up destroyed than were in the original breed development. Animal shelters destroy lots of dogs. It's backwards. It makes it all worse.

I say knock 'em iin the head and throw 'em in a hole. No rescue mutts available. If you want a dog your path is to get a pup from a cross that produces what you want. And if you see someone making or promoting mutts tell them why your purebred is the better way. Fella tried to tell me how great his "labradoodle" is the other day. High dollar mutts made at the cost of true hunting poodle lines.

I know people love their mutts, but you could a better dog just as much. Everyone and every dog would all be better off.
