Are these sandhill cranes? I’ve only ever seen a few pictures of them.

Plus most of the whooping cranes have identifying neck and leg bands. All the ones I’ve seen around here have. A fiend took pics of 4 of them next to the trace, they were identified by the neck bands.

I’ve seen a pair out here one other time before, about 3 or so years ago standing in one of our peanut fields next to the hole these are in.

Sandhills are headed your way. I live close to a Refuge up here and they leave every morning to go to ag. fields and back every evening. There are hundreds of thousands of them around my house right now. They stop here every year while heading south.

If y’all want to see some they have viewing sheds setup all over Wheeler. You’ll see thousands and thousands at a time, it’s pretty impressive

I'm in the same boat. Well, sort of. I have places to hunt, but the opportunities are few and far between on public land.
