I guess farm raised catfish, pond raise trout, pond raise crawfish, and basically any freshwater farmed fish would be in the same boat. (No pun intended.) If it bioaccumulaes Maybe has something to do with their respective diets?

We get local news reports about fish toxicity here on pickwick and other local tributaries Toxin levels and which fish were ok to eat etc……location of said species of fish etc…. https://www.alabamapublichealth.gov/tox/assets/al-fish-advisory-2021.pdfI’d heard in the news about what Irish posted and wondered WTH

If it bioaccumulaes Maybe has something to do with their respective diets? It’s two fold. Farm raised fish aren’t eating other fish, so bioaccumulation can’t happen. It’s also the water source. Farm raised fish aren’t getting water from rivers with chemical plants on them.

Here is what happens next... a little lobbying in Washington..... then.....
I bet the Tilapia they use to clean the Poo Poo out of the waste water in China are NOT going to be the type of fish that's actually bad for you. No, No.... That's gonna be the "good" a.k.a. Healthy fish.
Now... Catfish from West, AL...... Now that's the stuff that's gonna be bad for you. Kill you dead probably.
Just guessing here.
Chicken will be "bad" for us next... but of course only ones raised in the United States.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I can tell you that most, if not all, MS Delta catfish ponds use well water to pump up. I know of a couple in East MS that had pumping permits for Catalpa Creek, but most use wells. Funny you mentioned Isola (or even know where it is!), as that’s where I grew up on a row crop and catfish farm.
*well now it says West AL instead of Isola, MS*

do they use tilapia to clean wastewater? Because of its resistance to low oxygen concentrations, the farmed fish is sometimes used as a first step in treating wastewater. The mild, white meat of the tilapia fish, along with its low fat content and high protein, vitamin, and mineral content, has made it an increasingly common food choice globally.Sep 2, 2020 Dirty jobs had a segment on tilapia and waste water treatment facilities

Years ago being told by some guys that worked in one of those plants that they released chemical waste in the early hours of the morning so it would be diluted by daybreak kinda was disturbing.

My wife and I love tilapia (pretty inexpensive frozen filet variety) fish tacos - probably eat them once every couple of weeks. We may have to change fish.

I thought that was common knowledge.

It will not stop until we are all government mandated vegans riding in public electric buses for transportation. That’s the plan in a nutshell. And the damn republicans have allowed them to pretty much be within site of their ultimate goal. They not even hiding it anymore

It’s why I stop if I see it available Truthfully they are farmed in closed loop systems where their poop fertilizes the aquaponic plants and then they feed off the plants. There was a special where Toyota sponsors a 3 story factory that grew farm to table type foods to restaurants in Chicago. Very interesting exposé for a few hours. It was more detailed than what I described. They were showing alternatives to land based farming
