We saw tons of deer there in November. It’s a great piece of land with some great bucks. I’m not sure about the folks saying they weren’t seeing much, but if that’s the case they were definitely not hunting the sign. The edges of the cutovers/burns were good, and the areas of woods between the river bottoms and the cutovers were probably the best. The food plots had a ton of doe activity, with a chance for a buck to wander in. Any turkey sign in there? My dad drew a turkey hunt there in late April

I'm thinking this early February hunt should be good rut activity and I would target the cutovers and travel routes... I haven't seen anything on what unit we get or a map yet. Just the automated email about going from alternate to hunter

Is there cell service here? On the hillside...sure. Once you drop off into the river bottom...maybe not so much.

Is there cell service here? There was pretty good cell service in most of the area, but as mentioned its poor down close to the river bottom. there was enough service to send a text or call someone, but not enough to send pics over text and not enough to run a cell camera. We did run cell cameras on the higher points though and it worked great.

I know some folks found airbnb's in the area, but my dad and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Atmore (just off 65) and we were really happy with it. We booked a room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa so we would have the sofa and a chair to sit at and enjoy some evening beverages without having to sit on the edge of the bed. It was also a bigger room with lots of room for all our stuff. They have a great complimentary breakfast, and even on the morning when we left the hotel way before daylight they would have coffee and pastries ready to take with us. lots of quick dining within walking distance of the hotel too, which was a plus. it was only about a 10 minute ride to the SOA location Thanks a lot for that! I hadn’t decided where to stay but this helps!

I hadn’t decided where to stay but this helps! In addition to the Holiday Inn Express, there is also a Fairfield Inn and Hampton Inn all right there at the interstate. Wind Creek Casino is also right there on that exit. Fast food right there on the exit includes Sonic, Hardees, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Waffle House, and Popeyes. There is a Starbucks right in front of the casino, as well. As said, it's a very short 10 mile or so drive from those hotels.
