If it were my son and he already had all those skills, I'd tell him he can quit school if he passes the GED as long as he takes a class or two a semester in a local Community College. That way, he won't get out of schooling habits in case he decides to go full time somewhere to pursue a technical degree. Plus, even if they are espousing liberal views, it never hurts for a strong minded person to hear the other side's point of view. It just sharpens his viewpoint. Iron sharpens iron is said somewhere in The Bible.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Mine never went back after they closed college for covid. Hes 22 now and making almost 20k more than I did as a Lieutenant at the fire department with 30 years in. And that is including the tons of OT I worked. No way I would recommend he quit to go back to school. If you are young and willing to work there are some great jobs out there.
Lead, follow or get the HELL outa the way!

After re-reading the post, the thing that makes me say "make him finish" the most is where you say "he doesn't enjoy school". So is he going to quit at EVERYTHING in life that he doesn't enjoy? Whether he works for you or not, there's going to be lots of things in his life that he won't enjoy but part of being a responsible man is doing it anyway. It'll be a good life lesson for him. I can really relate to this wisdom. The world we live in today has very little responsibility. This is something we learn by doing, and truer words cannot be spoken to what 150 wrote! My best friend through school really struggled and hated school from day one. I helped him through school, wrote papers for him, etc to help him get through. I can remember many times him telling me he wanted to quit school and get a job. At the time of our junior year, he wanted to go to college and play football and he had several offers coming in during our Junior year. He wanted to go to Auburn and he got the offer in our senior year. We had several long talks over that senior year about what will happen when he plays ball, etc and he came to the conclusion he was not going to go. He graduated high school and bought some equipment to begin a local business where hard work was required. He was a great worker and his business grew tremendously. He recently wound up selling his four businesses and retiring. Needless to say, he will never want for anything in life as he took care of our grandchildren as well. I am very proud of him and all he has accomplished in life and it could not have happened to a greater man than my Son-in-law's Daddy. I went to school for 18 years and have every degree except for my Doctorate. I did not make all the millions he has made, but I don't want for anything as well. My schooling allowed me the "ability" to set down with a pencil and see if a deal was a deal or a dud. I have a job that I truly feel is a calling and I do my job very well. I am very satisfied with my choice in life of careers and could not be in the position I am in today were it not for my completion of school. To each his own, but the moral to my story above is "An individual can make it in life if they will work", but I strongly suggest allowing enough time to graduate!
I can't stand a thief.

I wish your son well hoggin. He sounds like a fine young man. As we all know there is so much more to school than just the classroom part. I loved going to school and I was a average student at best. I loved it so much that I got the perfect attendance award three years running. No doubt it was my greatest accomplishment besides graduating. lol
