While this is all wild and crazy to watch, until a Speaker is elected there is no governing that can be done.
Is that necessarily a bad thing? While a lot of folks hoot and holler and cheer on the mess, the bottom line is yes it is a bad thing. A paralyzed government is akin to a third-world country and the U.S. is better than that.

Yea, I keep hearing this from the "conservatives" all on TV running around with their asses on fire.....
Apparently Mitch and the Senate are ready to go...Yep. Whatever that is supposed to mean.
I don't know either. They purposely put themselves in the minority fighting Trump candidates. But they are "ready to go".
Total BS.
Mitch and McCarthy don't even have a working relationship. Mitch doesn't talk to the House Republicans about a dam thing. Never has... and you can look that up if you don't believe me.
These people lie to us constantly. But apparently - it take a lot more than endless wars a crashing economy an open border and 40 year high inflation for anyone to care enough to vote differently.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Little history for you guys on Byron Donalds - another lifetime politician. Graduated FSU, worked in banking and insurance for a few years, decided real quick that life as politician would be much easier. He ran for and became a FL state rep and was elected to Congress in 2020 and seated in 2021. So first off, he's got a whopping 20 months experience as a House member. Also worth mentioning and taking note of: Mr. Donalds was a registered democrat from the time he was old enough to vote and right up until 2010, then he switched to Republican and began his political career. Hmmm, why would that have happened. The Florida district he lived in at the time was about 75% republican. He decides he wants to be a politician but is a democrat and that is a very major problem everywhere in FL other than the extreme south end of the state. Only thing to do is put on a sheep's skin and pretend to be a Republican. Guess it worked out pretty well for him. He's a prime example of everyone in Washington politics, and why everyone should despise politicians.

Well, that's interesting.
So the Band of 20 who is fighting McCarthy puts up a guy who until 13ish years ago was a Dem before switching sides.
Sounds pretty swampish of the 20 to do that. Wouldn't they put up someone within their own little team? Gosar or someone like that?

a.k.a..... We've got to get this Government working so they can get those IRS agents hired and fund some more wars.
All "the senate and Mitch being ready to go" means, is that Mitch is ready to start collecting checks and getting his payoff for helping rush the omnibus spending bill through and giving the democrats everything that they wanted 30 days ago. He used his SuperPac to bribe 17 other republican senators to follow him on it. It essentially cut the knees off the Republican congress that is about to be seated and neutered them by taking away any potential leverage that they would have had over the democrat controlled Senate.

Let's face it, they all suck and are bamboozling all of us, might as well get on with the inevitable and at least act like we're united. The dems are laughing their ass off...congress is infighting, aldeer is infighting...only winner in all of this is once again, the libtards. Congrats!

I'm still wondering why isn't all conservative congress members not in the freedom caucus. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

Let's just get to 2020 and get Trump reelected and then we can get things done. Let's just get to 2022 and take back the house and the senate and then we can get things done. Let's just vote for the devil we know so we can get things done.
I'm tired of Republicans always settling while democrats are constantly leveraging. Just voting Republicans because they have an R by their name hasn't worked at all. I want to see someone actually stand up for something and fight back for a change. If you vote for someone who isn't causing trouble you voted for the wrong person.

What makes Byron Donalds qualified to be speaker? I assume that's who you all support now since that's who the hold outs are all voting for? What makes McCarthy? Jim Jordan is the one acting like a leader right now. He is tweeting out what needs to be done, rather than holding failed vote after failed vote for himself. Put one of the 20 holdouts in, I could care less as long as its not some swamp candidate.

The script has flipped and the Rep party is now the one in-fighting for all to see....it wasn't until Obama Admin that the Dem party decided they needed to get in lock step with one another. Brief skirmish within Dem party (aoc, illion, etc), but they kept it together, or the optics of kept it together. Repubs are looking like the inexperienced JV team scrimmaging against the All Conference team.
pitiful!
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I spent a few minutes reading comments on this from the Internet. Not the most scientific, I know.... but the only people who are kicking and screaming is the Leftwing media (who want McCarthy) and this time around pretty much all the "conservative" talk show hosts on Fox News.
The consensus appears to be that voters are sick and tired of a bunch of empty talk out of Republican leadership while the Democrats use them as a punching bag.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Also worth mentioning and taking note of: Mr. Donalds was a registered democrat from the time he was old enough to vote and right up until 2010, then he switched to Republican and began his political career. Hmmm, why would that have happened... That's also about the same time he turned 32. You know, when people have been out of college and working long enough to see that liberal/progressive BS ideology that was fed to them in academia don't fly in the real world. Or, hey, let's hate him and go with the guy that's screwed us for years.

Or, hey, let's hate him and go with the guy that's screwed us for years. Oh, I dont want to see McCarthy as speaker either. Point was, there's a whole bunch of people with an R beside their name that need to be stringently vetted. Case in point: Over half the R's in the congress and senate wear that R with pride and claim to be conservatives, but vote, spend and act like liberal democrats. Donald's may have really had an epiphany and changed, but I'll bet $100, nobody on the forum knew the facts that I just presented about him. Press dang sure aint vetting anyone for anything in Washington anymore, unless it is to tear down a true conservative. It's always good to know the true facts about who you're voting for and how the people you voted for are voting and who they are really supporting.
