McCarthy has sold his soul to try to get this job.

Are you for real? You actually think someone else up there is any better? They all sold their soul, let's just get on with dragging Fauci, Hunter's buddies, Wray, etc up in front of them and make them squirm, about all they are worth at this point.

100% real. Mo was on this AM, all the committee chair positions cost $, and it starts at $1million. Guess who pays it? Special interest. Then the person is done after that.

I personally think it would be funny as hell if Crenshaw and Rogers and any other house member threatening these 21 holdouts lost their committee assignments as part of the terms to agree to vote for McCarthy.

When you have Maxine Waters telling people to vote for McCarthy, please.

These 21 folks are putting their political future on the line standing up for what is right.

And lets just be honest, nothing is going to pass the senate. The DOJ isn't going to take up any criminal referrals. It's all a dog and pony show until 2024. They need the senate and the white house to do anything.

Everyone is jumping up and down like their ass is on fire over this......

Consider this morning they said on the news that one of the things they were arguing about is.... how the Republican Party was spending money opposing grass roots candidates in Republican Primaries.

McCarthy and the Rhinos are the ones that need to concede. Can't believe there are only 20.

There is no hurry. The Government is funded until late 2023 AND all their investigations will be blocked by the Democrats and will go nowhere. They aren't going to get anything done for a while an everyone knows that. This is all about setting the stage.

There is no hurry. I respect this fight. It is embarrassing that the talking heads on Fox News are all running around crying in their Cheerios this morning over this. At times I think Hannity thinks he is running the Republican Party.

Unreal the support that liberal piece of sh-it is getting. The fact the democrats are openly supporting him should be enough of a red flag but I guess not.

If you were voted out this many time. Why not pull your name. Let it go. I guess I don’t understand.

The RINOs would as soon have a democrat as Speaker as not get thier pawn in. That's why they're not offering another choice. If they don't get what they want, then they'll do as well playing foil to their democrat friends.

While this is all wild and crazy to watch, until a Speaker is elected there is no governing that can be done.

The newly elected House members are not sworn in yet, so they are "members elect" and technically are not supposed to be on the House floor. No voting or debating or bill presentations are being done, debated, etc. The Senate is ready to go but even if it has a bill to send to the House, there is no use in doing it.

Right now, until there is a Speaker, there is effectively no House of Representatives and no government. JB could start issuing Executive Orders but that wouldn't be copacetic.

For all the faults of D.C., and there are many, getting this leadership step done is important.

I'm convinced now, nominating and voting for someone just b/c they are black makes total sense, definitely a completely normal conservative thing to do and not at all a move that liberals would do. They all suck, it's all stupid. Crenshaw should be reprimanded for what he said about the hold outs. McCarthy is the better of all the evil's in this case. Just get the stupidity over with and drag Fauci, Wray, et al up there and let these hold out hero's of everyone make them squirm.

That's a good point, hallb ... it's sometimes better to go with the devil you know than the one(s) you don't.

In 3 months nobody will remember or care about this. But what will remain are the rules and appointments they are currently fighting over.

The most shocking thing I can see going on here.... Those people who want all this "change" because Washington isn't working for the American People... well, they appear to be the exact same people on TV ranting about needing to stick McCarthy right in there.

That's not "change". That's more of the same and that isn't working for America. Fox News anchors like Hannity need to STFU. They are RHINO homers.

If McCarthy gets this you can write off the next 2 years. The Democrats will continue the march towards socialism and 1 party rule. McCarthy will be a speed bump for them not a road block. That's what this is all about.

This is a fight that needs to happen. Glad to see that there is a small group willing to stand up to the RINO establishment.

For what it's worth, I'm with Goatkiller on this one.

2 things I am happy to see:

#1) A lame duck congress/government. IDGAF that "the Senate is ready to go." I can promise you, they ain't ready to go in a direction me or you want. Neither is Joe. And no, the show trials of Fauci & Co. will do nothing, if they even happen. That's wasted hope. The less activity by Congress, the better.

#2) McCarthy getting a kick to his hubris. His entitled attitude towards SotH is a mirror of Hillary's entitled attitude to the presidency. Screw him and the lobbyist funded horse he rode in on.

Sure seems like a number of folks on here that complain about the RINO’s in Washington want the real conservatives in Congress to fall in line with the establishment. This fight needs to happen. That massive spending bill McConnell and the other RINO’s pushed through in the senate effectively neutered the incoming Congress. The conservatives holding the line here and not ushering McCarthy into the speaker’s chair know that the only way anything remotely conservative will get done now is by sending a message to the establishment GOP that they cannot ignore. The establishment has for far too long taken for granted the conservative base and pushed aside the talking points they sold to the base during campaigns to get their vote. By forcing McCarthy to agree to votes on true conservative agenda items like balanced budgets, border security, and term limits, it will expose those that like to claim the conservative label only when it is convenient.

If this stalemate lasted until 2024 that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world either. The longer things stay gridlocked in Washington the better.

So are the Alabama Reps' voting for what their constiuents want? They all voted for McCarthy, and at least one stood up and threatened the 21 holding out. Or are they voting because McCarthy controls $ to send to their re-election campaigns? Can he boot them off committees if they don't vote for him? Can he get donors and pacs to pull their support?

These people don't give a rip about you, me, or the state of alabama. They care about their power and their $. That's it.

Case in point. I was in the Barber Motorsports museum one time during a big event. Guess who walked in? Don Seigleman. Walked all around the museum, and got mad and left because no one paid him one lick of attention. No one walked up to him, shook his hand, greeted him or acknowledged him. I laughed watching the whole thing take place.

That is how these people think. They are royalty. We are paupers.

What makes Byron Donalds qualified to be speaker? I assume that's who you all support now since that's who the hold outs are all voting for?

^^^^All of this. The very last thing I'll ever be concerned about is a government that can't get anything done. Matter of fact that is preferable.

A black man, capable of thinking for himself and not blindly beholden to race/party rhetoric, who hasn't been in the machine long enough for the corrosion to eat his soul... what do you dislike?

The only part of that you can 100% confirm for yourself is that he's a black man. If he actually were to win (which he won't they'll just toss him to the side if McCarthy drops out) he would just be a puppet of those 20. Sounds pretty much like corrosion to me. I have nothing against him, really know nothing about him, but he is being used for this spectacle b/c he's black. Standard liberal tactic, so conservative of the hero hold outs. It's all a clown show.
