We kill 5-6 a year and normally are pretty low time gun season rolls around. I’ll keep doing it till the kids leave then I won’t need as many but will probably still kill one or two for friends that don’t hunt. We’re at 5 right now wouldn’t mind putting one more in the freezer then I got to get a friend one. She asked me this summer if I’d kill her one and get it processed for her.

Some TAAAALLLLLL tales in this thread. I'm sure a good many are true. I've never had the pleasure of hunting an entire deer season without working or college, so more than 10-15 would be quite the feat for most...and that's on prime land. I've managed to kill over 10 several years in the early 2000's when I had permission to hunt some land with a good number of deer. The most I killed in a season was 13 back then (twice). Most with a bow in a season was 6.

I was donating meat like crazy. I just wanted to kill deer. I'm not that way anymore. I let each of my 3 sons kill a deer or two a year. I've about got to where I only want to shoot wallhangers. We process 3-4 a year and give the rest away.

89 last year between 4 states but a vast majority was in bama. All meat was used....

I’ve averaged 2 bucks and 3 does per year for the last 5 or so years. But I’ve killed as many as 5 does in one afternoon but that’s been a while and was on DMAP properties.

We could eat 6-7 (family of 4). We all prefer deer for everything but steaks and a hamburger.

I think my best bow season was 11 deer. All but one fell in sight of my stand. Those Simmons Sharks cut a hole in a deer. The one that made it out of sight was maybe 75 yards from my stand. This with a Hoyt Compound. Best trad season was maybe 3 or 4.

When I was younger my granddad processed every deer I killed and gave deer meat to everyone he knew. He would constantly tell me he needed another one. I killed 12-18 pretty much every year from age 16-21. He passed away when I was 22, since then I probably shoot 3-5 a year. Now my son is 11 and all about hunting, I shoot 1 or 2 does a year and last year he shot 4 and will probably shoot 5 or 6 this year.

I used to shoot 5-7 every year and we ate nearly all of it ourselves. The rest went to friends and family. Now I usually shoot 1 or 2.

Quality not quantity

That number would be 6 for me.

I am 60 years old and I have never in my lifetime killed 3 bucks in a year.

I've had the opportunity but just have not chose to do so.

I don't even know what my best year has been. Probably 3, but it might be 2. I usually get 1-2 per year. I don't get a lot of time to hunt and I don't feel like I have to try and shoot something every time that I go.

I process them myself and it's a lot of work. Although I have gotten it down to about 3-4 hours of total processing time now.

But who wants to 7 years without killing one?

Used to kill 3-5 bucks year that were 3 or older

6 so far this season. Probably a year or two that I’ve killed more than that. Deer burger at my processor At 2.50 a lb. Ground beef at grocery store 5.00 a lb. Gonna fill my freezer this season😉
