Alabama need to clean house and start over, This is embarrassing. I didn't vote for Carl and never will. Mike Rogers is worthless and does not represent the interest of conservatives.

I don't know, kinda looks like a clown show to me. Those 20 are showing the other 200 they think they are more important than them. I don't think any of the options for speaker is better than the other, but I'm ready for them to at least start the useless investigations. Need to get on with it and vote in McCarthy b/c the next option will be to change the rules to a simple majority and then those 20 won't have a choice unless they want a democrat to be speaker and they would look pretty damn stupid then.

So you would be ok with the 90% telling you ( if you’re in the 10% that disagrees) to “sit down and shut up and vote the way we want you too”? That’s basically what’s happening here.

No, they could keep voting however they like and end up with a democrat speaker or I guess this can drag on for weeks, maybe months, until McCarthy bows out, that will really win over some voters. This is politics and the republicans are horrible at it. I get what they're doing, trust me I understand...but you think nominating someone just b/c they are black is the best thing to do? Clown show.

I was working at Mueller in Albertville in the mid-90's. Mike Rogers came through the engineering office on a PR visit. He picked up a dial caliper laying on my desk, looked at it like he was deep in thought and said: "It's been a long time since I used a slide rule." I could only think "Obviously".

I agree with hallb, this isn’t the hill to die on.

Ok so McCarthy is a special interest dweeb, how is Jim Jordan not? Any of them that’s been up there for longer than one term answers to someone other than their constituents. This is just more BS political theater

A simple majority is one of the things the 20 is demanding. They want to have it so just five members can oust the speaker.

It's the minority running the majority. Usually when that happens on here or anywhere else, folks usually say "Shut the hell up and go away."

That doesn't make it OK. But it's usually what happens. Not this time, though.

None of this is new, though. It's happened in Congress before albeit not to this public degree. When a little gaggle of Ds or Rs haven't gotten their way before on something, they muck up the votign and proceedings until they get changes or it dies. Typical politics. It's just being played out bigger now because this is the third in line to the presidency and McCarthy has been a looming figure for years.

The vote to vacate (ousting the Speaker) is about having a level of accountability to the Speaker. It was that way before Pelosi removed it.

Some of you, for real? This is precisely what is wrong with this country. No one stands for anything. Just line up, get your shot, wear your mask, gives us the money we tell you to give us and shut up.......

McCarthy is a POS, he is no better than Mitch. To watch all these supposed conservative comentators get behind him is pathetic.

McCarthy has sold his soul to try to get this job.

I don't care if we don't have a speaker of the house for two years to be honest.

How long can this go on if no one moves off their current vote? Can it just stay a stalemate until the next election? And, if so, does that mean nothing can move forward in Congress? That might be a good thing - there's a possibility that spinning your wheels might be better than moving in an undesirable direction.
