If you want to do a neck shot, have a stable hand, a rest would be best, deer feeding on corn placed in a bucket sized area helps keep the deer from moving much, shoot 20-30 yards, and use ammo in 150 grain or larger would be my preference. The deer will get a few bites and lift it's head to chew or look, shoot quick. Head down is good too, quick shot! Know that the neck don't run up the middle, it is above the center. First shot I ever took with a new larger caliber gun deer the dropped with no step, no flopping. Did miss one completely and someone shot it the next day. A shoulder shot or slightly behind would be the best shot and I what I would be doing mostly these days.
