To start, I use them, and don't judge anyone else for using them.
My concern is young hunters are never learning land navigation skills by staring at their phone. A lot of people going deep on public land these days, I wonder what they'll do if their phone dies.
I find them useful while hunting to look ahead and know when to slow down, and dropping pins is very helpful. I always make sure I know how to get to the road without it though.
