I had a buck one time as I was walking in to where I was going to bowhunt jump up and disappear. I knew he didn't run away from me as that was swamp and I would have heard him running through the water. There was a lot of River Cane between us. He finally came to an opening and I could see him doing what I can only describe as low crawling back towards the way I came. Nothing I could do but watch and be impressed by his survival instincts. After he got what he thought was far enough away, he got up and took off.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Watched a horny spike mount a doe on her head. She promptly flipped him over her shoulders.

I shot a big buck 2 years ago in the middle of the rut. I tracked that deer for somewhere around near 4 miles with a dog. It felt like we found enough blood to fill a 5 gallon bucket. We started at somewhere around 1500ft and ended the track 1000ft lower. From the very top of the mountain to the very bottom. The blood ran out and we never did find the deer. I think the feel fell off in a sink hole.
I was amazed at how much GO that deer had in it after being blasted by a 300win mag.
You could shoot me in the leg with a BB gun and I’m not going the distance that deer went.

You could shoot me in the leg with a BB gun and I’m not going the distance that deer went. The first good buck I ever killed with my bow was hanging out in a bachelor group and was sparring with some of the others when I put an arrow through his boiler room. I loaded him up and took him to the sign in board to weigh and check him in. The club president's son takes one look at the deer and says "that is the same buck I shot on Tuesday!" I shot him on Saturday the same week. He had called in a dog and they had jumped and run the deer for close to a mile where he crossed the Perdido River into Alabama and they had to quit.. Sure enough, there was a hole in the buck high in the back where his arrow had passed through. That deer was none the worse for that previous arrow pass through and was the dominant buck in that group.

I was sitting on the ground, leaning against a tree, in south Louisiana, in the early 90's when a doe walked up. When she got about 10' away she noticed something wasn't right with me. Wind was in my face, I was in full camo including face mask. She thumped the ground and false charged me for several minutes getting within 3-4' of me. She eventually walked off to my left. Having one that close, at eye level, false charging, for that long, is still the coolest thing I've ever experienced in the woods.

I was a driver on a dog drive. Dogs were working real close in front of me and jumped a couple of does and left out of the bottom. As I am standing there listening for them to cross the standers up ahead, I spotted a small buck still bedded down, with his chin stretched out on the ground. He had held cover and avoided the dogs who were clearly distracted by the running does. Thought that was a pretty smart move.
