For aluminum boats. I don't know what kind of boat this is. I have heard the same concerns about the flexing as well. My boat is a aluminum 2004 Lund. It already has a rigid aluminum channel where the O/B mounts. The current transom has lasted 18 years. In 18 years, I'll be 83. So the math says go the cheaper route.
