I was looking around on the Publix website the other day and was surprised to see that you can buy whole hogs (gutted and scraped) from them. IIRC you can order them in weights from around 30 pound up to over a hundred pounds. Probably pretty pricey but, at least you would be able to get the size you wanted when you wanted it.

Publix has 50-100 pound pigs. They come completely frozen so make sure you order it with enough time to thaw it. I just cooked a 60 pounder for my student ministry. We had 95 students and about 20 adults show up and still had some left over, but we had plenty of other food too.

Man I caught some in a trap a few weeks ago that would have been perfect. Unfortunately it was hot and I didn’t want to fool with them. Shot them and gave them to the buzzards and coyotes.

Sorry 3toe, just saw your post. Yes those are to keep flies away. I bought some because I do a lot of outdoor cookouts for my youth group, they work great! Called a Fly fan, can get them on Amazon.

Next time you get a couple, let me know. I know some people that would be interested in fresh pork!
