I haven't seen any duck hunting stories, but honest to god, those are a lot more likely to be dangerous than worrying about local piddlers or bobcats. Combine freezing temps, water, guns, small boats, and 20+ pounds of clothes, gear, etc, and it's easy to be in serious trouble. Most of the truly scary stories I've heard are from waterfowlers.

My wife is friends with a girl that lost her newlywed husband a few years back in Louisiana or Arkansas on a duck hunt. Fell out of the boat and drowned. Didn't find his body for days
