The scariest thing that ever happened to me concerning hunting was when Modoc 333 invited me to go with him one day.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

A pack of coyotes circling me as I walked out after an evening hunt. A Ruger No1 is not what you want when 3-5 yotes are circling you

When I was hunting chicks in High School, I once bagged and tagged a hottie. Then made the mistake of stepping out. The attacks received from what seemed like all the other hotties I had future plans for, almost broke me. Hunting white tail, eh? Can be dangerous.

Falling out of a tree stand and breaking your back is scary. When I was a kid, like 5 years old, I got into a bad nest of yellow jackets. Those bastages like to have killed me. When I was 15, I ran into a couple potheads preseason scouting. One had a snake charmer shotgun, the other a big old hoe. I had nothing. Thought I was dead. One of em said he had pot planted and didn’t want it messed with. It scared the crap out of me.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”

I had an Amacker Deer Thief treestand that the bottom half slid down the tree and the attach rope kept it with me. I was about 25 ft up sitting in the upper half with no bottom platform. I had to hang from the upper half and get the bottom worked up until I could stand on it.

I’ve always said running over a yellow jacket nest on a no cab tractor/dozer is about the most dangerous thing in the woods. You’ll hurt yourself trying to get away from em.

I was getting in an old shooting house on our place one morning 2 seasons ago, about 7’ high to the floor. I had snuck in with no light, eased the door open and got one leg in the shooting house. A hawk hit me straight in the chest and I fell flat on my back. Thankfully I had my backpack on with a jacket inside to help ease the fall. Only way I knew it was a hawk is somehow I landed on the damn thing and killed it. I’ll see if my brother still has the pic I sent after getting in after daylight. He didn’t believe me, so I had to send a pic of the hawk laying under the shooting house.
That shooting house is no longer there, and has been replaced with one that has windows.

I had an encounter with a full grown black bear in Wilcox county right at dark one time. Not really that dangerous but just a real uneasy feeling walking out in the pitch black dark with only a bow and a small flashlight and knowing that he was probably still close by.
I guess the most dangerous would be having a 185# 9pt charge me in a pine thicket. He was 16" wide but looked like 4 ft wide when he came charging at me with his head down like a charging bull. Believe it or not, a deer can cover 10 yards before you can even think about getting out of the way.
