Appreciate all the advice.

Bought a crossbow 2 years ago. Gotta have rotator cuff surgery next Friday. I hear recovery is a bitch,. but I am in misery currently. What say you who have already been down this road? Never had surgery, but broke a clavicle years ago in another state while after a big deer when the Ol'man slipped down the tree at the very first of the deer season. l learned about strapping the lower and upper sections of the treestand to the tree and a safety strap after that. Shot, dragged out, and cleaned a big nanny at end of season using mostly opposite shoulder. Worked for that deer! Thought the rest of the season was a no go! That was one of the worst and best seasons ever! I was really mad at the deer that year after that. Just knowing I had a stand 50 yards out the back door and lot's of deer coming though made it worse, but was part of my motivation to get back in it. I would say forget the bow or crossbow until next season. If you can recover this year get a .223 with some of those 62 grains shells someone mentioned in another thread. Sit on the ground and just enjoy the experience! Maybe even get a corn feeder. Have someone on standby to do the dragging. Be safe and don't forget that old buck will be waiting for you.
