1500 feet is doable, by yourself with a 2 day rental on a Ditch Witch as long as you aren't real close to bedrock. I'd suggest a 2" line with o-ring slip joints. That uses NO glue. I know for certain that I'm sitting about 200 feet from a 2" run, that's at least 1500' long and it's been in the ground since 1987 and we did it ourselves. No leaks except for one when a backhoe hit it.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

So define water main—- the main we put in a subdivision is 6” to 8” ductle iron. With Hydrants, Cutoffs, bedded in gravel, crossing for stub outs. That’s not what your wanting.
Over a 1500’ run friction loss Is your enemy. Put in 2”. The only difference is the cost of materials. The ditch is the same price. So out of curiosity does he need a 2” meter to utilize the 2” pipe ?

I have over 1400 feet of water line to get to the house. We went 1 1/2 except the last 200 feet. At my hose bib before the regulator I had 160 psi coming off it. No need to go 2”.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!
