I guess the people that drew the map know better than me, but I always thought the moutains in Western Jackson and Eastern Madison are actually the Cumberland Plateau.
They must know better than the USGS too because every map I've ever seen has listed the main backbone of mountains here as the Cumberland Plateau.......The Appalachains peter out into North Georgia
