I'm gonna start a thread to keep up with the turkey numbers a little more in real time......There were 263 birds reported killed on the youth hunt. Here is where they came from.....Just to note that some counties had fall seasons and had killed 37 birds leading into the youth hunt.....Those were not added.

Lauderdale county doesn’t open until April 1, so I wonder if that youth got ticketed?

Somebody probably fat fingered their phone and meant to pick another "L" county is my guess. There is very likely a small % of error from stuff like that.....

So I guess the youth who killed one on our club was the only one in Lowndes? Doubtful.

The numbers for Lowndes Co have been really low for the last couple of years in comparison to everywhere else......It would rank somewhere around 50th out of 67 counties for birds produced over this time period

I’ll throw this out there at the very first of this thread………Are these the actual numbers to a tee???......No……There’s a good chance that the numbers are not the actual total……It’s probably more like 75% if I had to guess……However……is there any reason for us to believe the hunters in say Pickens, Marengo, and Marion counties…..would be reporting at a significantly different rate than hunters in Lowndes, Chambers, and Houston????.........No, not enough to make any significant different.

So, I could apply a correction factor of 25% onto the numbers but its only gonna make the counties like Lowndes look that much worse in comparison. What I would take away from these maps for counties like Lowndes is that there aint that many birds being killed there in comparison to many other areas.....I know this is just the youth hunt map but like I said before its been the trend for the last few years in that county

Technically folks have 48 hrs to report them so I'll update any change after tomorrow. Right now there's only been an extra 5 added this morning to the total.

I bet I can go on face book and come up with double the numbers of some of these counties. I wish the research worked I just don’t think it does …..

And, 3 types of hunting happened this weekend. Youth. Adults who didn’t know anything changed. Adults who did know things have changed, but it was just another sunrise.

I live and hunt in Franklin mostly. Just hard for me to believe it out weighs all the others by that much. And all the honesty..

Why try to protect them for 10 days in the spring of some counties still have fall seasons?what’s the difference in killing one on March 15th 2022 or December 2021?
