Interesting quote in the speech that will give you a little pause: (Remember he's talking about the West here...) "Anything that does not suit the dominate state, the powers that be, is denounced as archaic, obsolete and useless. At the same time everything it regards as useful is presented as the ultimate truth and forced on others regardless of the cost, abusively and by any means available. Those who refuse to comply are subject to strong arm tactics." And this: "Overall, it appears that nearly everywhere, in many regions of the world where the United States brought its law and order, this created bloody non-healing wounds and the curse of international terrorism and extremism."

It definitely gives pause but at the same time it’s very ironic coming from him. Kettle meet Pot. Careful... We are going to be accused of "Praising Putin" when we are merely pointing out facts here. ![grin grin](/forum/images/graemlins/default/grin.gif) That fact of the matter is that ALL governments are bad, they begin all wars, always have, they oppress human beings, they oppress other countries, they push other countries and their people into untenable situations and are the main cause of terrorism. People aren't terrorist, because they want to be. They are terrorist because they feel they have been forced to be. The guys at the Boston Tea party didn't enjoy tossing tea into the harbor, they did it because an oppressive government forced them into a corner to where they felt like it was their only alternative.

We have to start by fixing ourselves. The fact is 13 us lives were lost because we had to finish the war in Afghanistan. It was a crap show by all accounts. That was just a few months ago, and now we have to go fix Ukraine or Russia or whatever we're trying to accomplish. We can't be with out a war for more than four months in this country. Biden said yesterday he's sending a billion in aid. Does anyone ever stop to think where that money comes from. ME and YOU, getting up and going to work everyday. Is that where your money is best spent? Wars and aid in Other countries? We have a full time job getting crap strait here, no time or money to fix the world.

Will some one please explain to me what the difference is between Russia making up a reason to invade Ukraine and the US making up a reason to invade Iraq? Iraq had invaded and attempting to take over Kuwait. Iraq had always wanted the real estate between them and the Persion Gulf. Kuwait was (and is) an ally of the US. Bush told them to get out. Sadam laughed and said he would wipe out the evil Satin if they tried to do anything about it. It escalated into Desert Storm. So it involved one country invading another and kinda evolved into the “weapons of mass destruction” thing. The build up took so long, I still believe Sadam moved what he had to Syria. (Although that has never been proven, but with Syria’s ties to Russia it wouldnt.

Now, Russia was invaded ONCE by Napolean and it was a weak feeble invasion with only one real major battle (Borodino And it was an invasion they brought on themselves. They joined an alliance of other nations that declared war on France. France had not attacked or wronged them in any way prior to their declaration of war. They, along with a group of other nations at that time, were fearful that the revolutionary ideas that swept through France would take root in their countries and toss the aristocracies and ruling class out on their collective ass.

3rd brigade 1st armored division buddy, I absolutely know what I'm talking about! Cleared a many of bunkers myself. Also coached boys in little league baseball that went back the second time and didn't come back right! Fact Bush senior was president when i there , then Clinton, then Jr, then we went back years later! And the reason was made up! New guy...may not be around for long.

If I remember my history correctly, I think Backwoods is factually correct. It's wasn't about WMD's the first time. The first time was simply to liberate Kuwait. The second time we went in was allegedly for the WMD's and it was Bush II that led that charge.

Irish you are correct Heres what i know Saddam invaded Kuwait in August 1990, we were in country September 1990 What the news (CNN) reported was just a lust for more oil to control more of the worlds oil supply What really happened was Iraq caught Kuwait angle drilling under the border into their oil fields Fast forward to Bush II He announces we are going back after Saddam because he has WMD's and he actually did at the time Saddam promptly loads up convoys full of WMD's (mostly nerve agents) and sends them into Syria...remember Obamas red line in the sand ? It was nerve agent that came from Iraq that was used on his own people Now what was the point of going back in there if we had that intel ? Only clear answer is to fill the pockets of the Military Industrial Complex investors When we left the desert in 91' we were placing bets on how long it would take us to be back over there. At that time we all knew it was coming around again

Will some one please explain to me what the difference is between Russia making up a reason to invade Ukraine and the US making up a reason to invade Iraq? Easy to explain US invades to put dollars in pockets of Military Industrial complex investors Russia invades to fulfill Putins dream of reunification of the old USSR countries Puyin likes $$$$$$ also, he's a billionaire.
