I seen that yesterday. I was young but remember him in the backfield with Bo.

Lionel has been living a troubled life for many years due to the bottle.

He was great in his prime, and he was the one that got a lot of attention because he got through college without being able to read.

One of them around that time period couldn't even spell their own name and signed an NFL contract with an X.

James Brooks was the illiterate one. Lionel James was a heck of a guy and very popular on campus when playing at Auburn. After he left pro football he coached at Auburn during Terry Bowden’s tenure as AU head coach. He also was a pharmaceutical rep for quite some time, which requires a great personality. He really toted the water as a 5’6” tailback and in my opinion was the best running back inch for inch to ever play at AU. RIP “ Little Train”!
