Got my wife a Tikka T3X lite chambered in 308 for her birthday. Her step dad is planing on getting her a Boyd’s stock and a 3-9x40 Leupold for it.
I know every rifle is different but I’m looking for recommendations on what ammo y’all’s tikka like? I don’t reload so it’ll have to be something I can buy off the shelve. Just trying to avoid spending a ton of money on different ammo trying to get 4 different brands and weights to try.
Thanks for y’all’s help

I just bought the same rifle, and got some Norma Whitetail 150 gr and some Federal premium 165 gr sierra game king. Both rounds shot about 1 1/2 groups. I was pleased and I figure the groups will get better after more rounds down range and bore cleanings.

150gr. Federal Non-Typical out of my T3 .308.

[Linked Image]

I tried the Federal 150gr Nosler Partitions and they were all over the place.

Good deal thank y’all so much. I’m try some blue box federal, Whincester power points and some core Lokt. Hopefully we can get her out to the range soon and get her dialed in

Hornady 150 SST I would definitely cycle some of those through.

Mine like either 150gr. Fusion or 165gr SST sub MOA with those and 1.5 with almost anything else but 150SST (its all over the place with those) With that said all rifles are different even the same brand and model

You bought the right caliber. That's all that's available right now. That and 223.

Honestly we haven’t had a hard time finding ammo the past few months. But I had a heck of a time finding this gun.

It’s our first tikka and I already am debating on selling my rifles and buying the same calibers in a tikka. That thing just feels perfect in your hands

Bought my daughter the same rifle for graduation gift. It shot the first load I tried into less than an inch and I didn't try anything else. It is a handload with a 150 game king.

My brother has one in 25-06 and it shoots everything pretty good.

Point is I bet it won't really matter.

I would recommend changing to the Timney trigger. Tikka factory triggers are great, but have a 2 position safety that locks the bolt on safe, and requires the rifle to be put in "fire" position to run the bolt.

I agree. I just got a T3x Hunter and the two position locking safety and that ridiculously expensive “polymer” magazine are my only gripes with the rifle. I knew that going in, and while they’ll likely never bo problems, I don’t care for them. As you said the factory trigger is one of the best I’ve felt in an out of the box gun. I really like it. It’s not a Sako but it’s a damn well made rifle for the money. I finally got mine put together and just haven’t had a chance to test it. I’d be shocked if it’s not a shooter. They don’t test them to the extremes of the Sako line, but they still test them and they have to meet a standard.
