Ours did the same as yours BhamFred and we spent the whole month of Dec staying with our daughter and family. We left on the front porch lights and a lamp in the living room.

I might call and ask someone for an explanation about that.

Alabama power sucks. But the real thieves are the rural electric folks. Especially the one that serves rural lowndes county where my hunting camp is. I pay $500 year in power and I only run a damn refrigerator March through November in my camper.

Natural gas prices have doubled thanks to Brandon. Fuel cost is a direct pass through to the customer and the majority of the generation comes from natural gas facilities.

I've burned alot of wood and kept my heat pump off all winter so I guess I haven't noticed the difference. My water has definitely went up. To the point I've check for leaks a couple times. Union Grove utilities are crooks also

My power bill was over double what it usually is this month. It also said my usage doubled but I’m not sure how that can even happen since we haven’t done anything different. It’s usually higher in the summer not the winter.

The rate plan for 2022 appears to be about 10.6 cents per KWH.

Click for rate plan for 2022

Which, if I am understanding it correctly seems to be the same rate since 2009...

Click for 2009 rates...

All I know is that we've burned a lot of wood in January and February at the cabin...

We are not on Alabama power at the cabin, but we are on Alabama Power at the house in Trussville where we have my Dad living, and his bill stays under $125 a month, I know because I pay it.

So I don't think Alabama Power has raised rates. Maybe something else is going on...

Well.. a meter is easily read, logged and tabulated if you don't agree with the numbers

I'm not sure what's going on but it could be a kid having the fireplace on till the air kicks on...I did forget to think about that one lol
