Just wondering about some books you wished you read earlier in life as a young man? Looking for some books that I could buy my son as he gets older. Books that you learned sometime from that could of helped you earlier in life. He’s only 10 now, so just interested in books I’ll read myself and could be passed down for good reads.

i’ll bite on this ... whatever books you land on & read, i guess what i’d say is - read along with your son too & discuss together what you’ve read ... i read a great many books as a teenager that made absolutely no sense to me at the time — because i had no experiences to relate to what i was reading 🤷🏻♂️ i really could have used an “adult perspective” at the time ... later on in my 20’s i re-read the books & they made a lot more sense

An adult perspective helps understand and appreciate things and situations better. Fiction is a wonderful thing and can really be relaxing, letting your mind wander through a cool tale. I didn't start reading for pleasure until I was out of college. I wasn't mentally ready for them prior to that. Took a little living to fully appreciate all the nuances. The list below are ones that are top reading when he gets a little older (and maybe a bit older than that for the King books). CJ Box has a great series about a Wyoming gamewarden that are fun and entertaining reads. The Old Man and the Boy is particularly a good read for anyone who loves the outdoors at any age. I’m the other way around....there were several I was forced to read in school that I either don’t remember or only kinda read, because I was uninterested, that I’d like to go back and read now.
I’ve read several of the Sherlock Holmes over the last few years and they’re fun. Also currently re-reading 1984.....that one is worrisome given our current political climate.
There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:
