When you buy a gun, your Form 4473 never leaves the dealer’s place of business until they close down. In the southeast, you know what doesn’t get transmitted for a background check? The make, model and serial number of whatever you’re buying. Point being, no one in the government knows what you have, and couldn’t know what you have, until the dealer shuts down. Those are facts. After that, if you think the government has a searchable database of transactions from closed dealers, I have some stellar snow ski resort property in Mississippi to sell you.

There’s way more government overreach to actually worry about than a nonexistent database.
