I am next to you in west Dale and the answer is no for me. I hunt the last two weeks of January every year and this one it seems slow in kicking off. Had a 3.5 yr old in a plot last nite with 6 does and he did not even check them.Ate some greens and corn worked some scrapes and left. There had been a dozen doe in the field 20 minutes earlier several acting like they were hot and he did not follow them. This morning I had two young bucks looking and tearing up every sapling they came across. A larger 8 was with a doe but not chasing. I think it’s just getting going.

This yr has definitely been different. Hardly any nice bucks on camera. I've noticed the does have basically vanished. Every time I've sat here lately all I've seen has been spikes on the move.

They was chasing last week. Hopefully there will still be some action this weekend

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

Heck my does have not vanished, they are out in fields eating with bucks ignoring them, which is not right for a typical year. Happened again this afternoon.3yr old 7 point walks in field and totally ignores does, eats for 20 minutes and leaves. Crazy. Well I have one more sit in the morning and it’s back to reality.

West Barbour - Our seems a little early. We saw multiple chases the first full weekend of January (8th & 9th) which is unusually early for us. Add the 28 day estrous cycle and the last week of the season should be prime.

I'm just across the pike county/coffee county line. I had 3 racked bucks and 5 does in the field Sunday afternoon. The dominant buck was running a certain doe all through the woods and in and out of the plot all afternoon. The other two bucks were just eating in the field.

It's definitely been a slow season for us.

We are on the pea river in Coffee County and its been a strange year with fewer buck sightings early on than we have had over the last 5 years. But to answer about the chasing, we had several smaller bucks bouncing around every where last week and our does are off our plots right now. We average around 12-15 deer "does and fawns" every sit. Monday and Tuesday morning or evening we had 0 in plots. By what we have logged over the last 5 years around January 21 has been the kickoff time by us using the chasing as a sign. Up until this week 11 deer at the time was the lowest count I've had this year as far as sightings go.
