In this months issue of Petersen's Bowhunting,(Oct 2010)I read an interesting comment by Bill Winke. He said "I have seen literally 1,000 or more deer that did not react to the scent of human urine. I have only seen a couple react at all and they only showed curiosity, not alarm. There is no human scent in human urine." I have always carried a bottle in my back pack when hunting. I figured that at the very least they would identify it as something that didn't belong. I have a lot of respect for Bill Winke as I have read many articles that he has written. This kinda has me questioning my devotion to the Gatorade bottles all these years! What do you guys say??????

What do I say? Let her fly. I had deer turn and come my way, sniff around, grab some acorns and slowly walk on by unalarmed.

I always carry a bottle but only so to collect the urine so I can put it in a moch scrape when I get down from the stand. Works like a charm. I've had lots of deer over the years to come and hang around the moch scrapes.

Unzip and let'er go!!!!! I'm a bow hunter and I don't hesitate for one second. Of course, I personally didn't make the decision to pee in the woods by myself.

I have been to so many QDMA functions listening to biologists/hunters, reading, watching biologists.... and ALL of them say to pee in the woods.

Back 15 years, a biologist from Univ. of Georgia, Dr. Karl Miller emphatically said that it was OK to pee in the woods and that deer rarely react negatively about it.

I've had to clean out shooting houses with pee bottles and it drives me crazy!!!

The worst part about pissing in the woods is not falling out of your stand laugh

Piss away, I've had deer walk right under my stand after a piss session.

This is great news! My liberal cousin-in-law decided last year that it was unethical to put corn out during the offseason so he went and pissed on it. I can now tell him at thanksgiving that he probably helped bring more deer into the area out of curiosity. Ahh sweet revenge on liberals!

That's news to me. I wonder if #2 is the same. My father pissed on a deer before when it was raining. Didn't phase him not one bit. That's one of them things I've always wondered about.
